Freight Assist Australia is committed to WH&S and C0R Legislation.
Safety is one of the most important foundations of our business. Our goal is for a completely safe and incident-free workplace in all of our sites around Australia and for a work environment that supports the health of our people and those of our clients and suppliers. To achieve these goals, we have a nation-wide approach to safety that focuses on systems and processes, as well as rigorous engagement and active implementation.
A major component in the success that Freight Assist Australia has enjoyed over the years is the attention it affords to safety and compliance. The nature of this industry demands the highest of standards relating to safe work practices and procedures. It’s a business that has multiple safety standards and Freight Assist Australia constantly address these standards thoroughly.
National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme
NHVAS was first offered to this industry in 1999 as an alternative compliance scheme. It has since evolved as a formal process for recognising operators who have robust safety and other management systems in place. It is also increasingly being used to show compliance with general duty requirements under road transport law. Freight Assist Australia has a nation-wide approach to safety and fiercely endorses the standards and practices that this scheme employs.
Mass Management
This is one of the modules of accreditation under the NHVAS. Accredited operators must have their systems, processors and records independently verified by authorised NHVAS Auditors on a regular basis. This ensures that the operator is keeping regular records and complying with our own quality procedures. Our operators are also given a comprehensive Quality and Procedures Manual that documents the various processes we have in place to ensure that vehicles are loaded within legal limits.
Basic Fatigue Management (BFM)
Basic fatigue management (BFM) accreditation allows our drivers to work under more flexible work and rest hours. Thanks to BFM our drivers now have a greater say in when they choose to work or rest. However, our stringent work and safety practices ensure that our fatigued drivers are also properly managed. All of our drivers are given access to the latest driving technology, including electronic work diaries.
Our Goals
Our OH&S compliance system consists of incident reporting and investigations, dealing with compliance breaches, inductions and maintenance systems. It is rigorous and our stance when dealing with these matters is completely uncompromising. Safety is one of the most important factors in our business and our goal is for a completely safe and incident free work environment in all of our sites around Australia. The result, will be a work place that supports the health of our key ingredient, our people and those of our clients and suppliers.
